What Is an Applied Curriculum Project ( ACP)?

An Applied Curriculum Project is a project where pre-service teachers, mentor teachers and a university colleague work as a team on a curriculum initiative that benefits the learning of school students. It involves formal supervised teaching practice as well as a wide range of other curriculum and teaching activities. In Applied Curriculum Projects pre-service teachers and mentor teachers, supported by the partnerships coordinator (PC) (student teacher coordinator) and university colleague, work together to identify an area that requires research, development and implementation at the school. This project is school needs-based and involves the team of pre-service teachers at each school working to support the learning of students at the school.  Projects are varied in their development processes and their outcomes.

Some ideas might include:
  •   Early Years Literacy and Numeracy Program support
  •  Organisation of special events, such as camps, performances, science fairs, etc.
  •   Support specific curriculum initiatives such as maths, SOSE, PE or Middle Years Support
